Black Rose is a NWOBHM ((New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) band from England and formed in the early 1980's. When asked what the name of their act was, the two looked at each other and without hesitation decided it was to be Black Rose.The early months after Black Rose re-surfaced were a bit hectic as the duo searched for musicians to fill in their sound with drums and bass. Black Rose are an English heavy metal band from Teesside in the north east of England. Wanna send us and email? While they had played with many talented musicians during this time, it was in June, 2017 that the lineup took a more permanent shape when they welcomed drummer Mike Lum and bassist Dean Jecks to the band. – In 1982 Black Rose appeared on the North East Tyne Tees TV show ‘Check It Out’ playing ‘No Point Runnin’ – The major reason why the band didn’t break into the US market despite the appropriate material, the raving reviews and the interest from K-Tel was the legal action from a US band with the same name.

Together they set out on a course to piece together a band, with the intention of doing original music that they had crafted, along with their favourite cover songs. The duo began playing some acoustic sets at various open mics and jams, and it was during one of these jams that the duo was requested to play a gig the following month.
The four worked together to solidify their repertoire of classic rock covers and after years on the back burner, Dan and Rose’s vision of Black Rose had now come back to life.The band has a mission statement that they strive to adhere to: Do what you love, love what you do. His influences, over the years, has been Neil Peart, Lars Ulrich, Stewart Copeland, Matt Sorum, Rick Allen, Alex Van Halen and Bev Bevan.He is currently living in New Westminster where he has been playing drums for over 30 years in several different bands - Split Finger, Dick Cash, Texas Rain, Furlong Johnson and PDQ. British indie rock label Majestic Rock Records released a CD of the band's songs from 1980-89 called A new line-up was put together and the band played their first gig in 25 years at the Cradle Will Rock festival in Dean was later replaced by Steve McLean on bass, as Dean had other pressing commitments outside of the band.
